Resources for community organisations
Run your own Vision workshop
The Community Workshops for the EMPOWER Dementia Network+ focus on addressing inequalities in dementia care by fostering collaboration among people with dementia, carers, researchers, and healthcare professionals. The workshop aims to co-create a shared vision for excellent and inclusive dementia care, which will contribute to the EMPOWER Network’s policy discussions in March 2025. Participants engage in creative exercises, discussions, and group activities to define key principles of care and their roles within the network, using a garden metaphor to symbolize collective growth. The session emphasizes co-production, equity, and meaningful engagement, ensuring that those most affected by dementia have a voice in shaping solutions.

Policy engagement resources
In March 2025, the EMPOWER Dementia Network+ ran a Policy Lab to determine how we can make dementia care fairer for everyone, regardless of their background, where they come from, and where they live. Five actionable policy recommendations were made to reduce dementia inequalities. A lay summary of what was discussed and an infographic are signposted below.
Delivering the NHS 10-Year Plan: Reducing Inequalities in Dementia Care for People Needing Greater Support
Dementia is a leading cause of death in the UK. However, significant inequalities persist in care and support. The NHS 10-Year Plan offers a key opportunity to address these gaps. The EMPOWER Dementia Network+, co-led by King’s College London and the University of West London, aims to tackle the worst inequalities through policy engagement. We held a Policy Lab bringing together people living with dementia, carers, community partners, clinicians, researchers, and policymakers to develop shared ‘Calls for Action’ aligned with the Plan’s three shifts.
For full details and evidence underpinning the calls for action, see the Policy Brief.

Resources on co-production
To support people in submitting applications to our Small Research Project Funding, we have developed co-production training.
This training was co-developed by researchers, community organisation representatives, and lived experts – all of whom have expertise in co-production. You can find this training through clicking the link below.

Resources for getting involved in research
There are many unanswered questions about the causes, prevention and treatment of dementia. Only research will help us to find these answers. This research is reliant on people like you volunteering to take part to make a difference.
Join Dementia Research is a service which enables people to register their interest in national dementia research. It helps people with dementia, their carers or those who support them, and anyone over 18 interested in dementia research to make a difference and take part in vital research studies.
Once signed up, you will receive email notifications about studies you can take part in. There is no obligation to take part in any of the studies you are matched to.
