Dr Ben Hicks

Ben’s research concerns supporting quality of life and social inclusion in people with dementia by exploring their differing lived experiences of the condition and addressing the inequalities that may arise in the dementia care pathway. His PhD examined social inclusion in rural-dwelling older men with dementia and the role of masculinities in shaping men’s experiences of living with dementia. Ben is also interested in understanding how creative psychosocial initiatives can promote positive dementia-awareness and enhance the health and well-being of people with dementia and their care partners.

Strengths I bring: Research experience, Friendly and approachable, Drive to improve lives

What I would like the network to achieve: Use evidence based research to provide actionable outcomes that can address inequalities in the dementia care pathway and support people to live well with the condition.
