Dementia Adventure Green Letter Days: Supporting Wellbeing for People Living with Dementia and Their Carers Through Meaningful Moments

Back to ALL Funded Projects

Project Summary

This project will explore how Dementia Adventure’s Green Letter Days support the wellbeing of people living with dementia and their carers who accompany them. Green Letter Days are inclusive days out that enable people affected by dementia to enjoy meaningful activities, shared experiences and time outdoors.

The research will take place across numerous Green Letter Days nationwide. It will use structured observations during each event, end-of-day questionnaires and follow-up telephone interviews with a smaller group of participants. Together, these methods will help the team understand what creates meaningful moments, how participants experience the day and whether any benefits continue after the event.

People with lived experience of dementia are at the heart of this project, helping to shape the aims, research materials and interpretation of the findings.

Expected Impact

The project will build evidence about how community-based outdoor experiences can support enjoyment, connection, confidence and wellbeing for people living with dementia and thei carers.

The findings will help Dementia Adventure strengthen and improve future Green Letter Days, identify which elements are most valuable to participants and make activities more inclusive and responsive to different needs. The project will also produce practical learning that can be shared with other organisations, commissioners and researchers interested in reducing social exclusion and supporting families affected by dementia.
