Professor Catherine Walshe, International Observatory on End-of-Life Care, Lancaster University

I’m a Professor of Palliative Care at the International Observatory on End of Life Care at Lancaster University, and also Editor of the journal Palliative Medicine. I have a clinical background as a nurse, with research interests focused on how best to organise and provide care for people with palliative care needs.

What I would like the network to achieve: To improve the experience of those with advanced dementia towards the end of their lives so that they receive compassionate, appropriate, evidence-based care. 

At the International Observatory on End-of-Life Care, we aim to conduct high-quality cutting-edge research and provide innovative educational programmes to improve palliative and end of life care for patients and family carers.
